Peninsula Players Named Theatre of the Year

Fish Creek, Wisconsin – Peninsula Players Theatre, America’s oldest professional resident summer theater and Door County’s theatrical icon, is delighted to announce that theater fans of BroadwayWorld.com (Milwaukee region) voted Peninsula Players as Theatre of the Year and its productions of “A Real Lulu” as Best Play and “Nunsense” as Best Musical.

The World Première of “A Real Lulu” by Paul Slade Smith was also awarded Best Actress in a Play for Erin Noel Grennan’s portrayal of Louise Peakes and Tom Mula was honored with Best Director of a Play.  “A Real Lulu,” now titled “The Outsider,” also featured Greg Vinkler, the Players Artistic Director, in the role of Ned Newley and Sean Fortunato as Dave Riley, both of whom were nominated in the Best Actor in a Play category.

The Players’ production of “Nunsense” by Dan Goggin was voted as Best Musical and its director Karen Sheridan received a nod as Best Director of a Musical.   The lively musical featured actresses Ashley Lanyon, Christine Mild, Liz Pazik, Cassie Slater and Stephanie Wahl.   Several other Peninsula Players company members – performers, directors and designers – were also nominated for their work in the 2015 season.

“These honors affirm what I have known for long time, that patrons, devotees and supporters of Peninsula Players cherish and appreciate the artistry, craftsmanship and theatrical works the theater has produced for more than 81 years,” said Vinkler.  “The Players were flattered to be nominated among so many talented artists in the Milwaukee region.  We are all very humbled to be bestowed with these accolades.  All of us at Peninsula Players would like to say to all who voted, ‘Thank You.’”
