Shawn Stengel

Actor and Director

Shawn is happy to be the answer to this Peninsula Players trivia question: Who is the first actor to appear in a production on the new PP stage?  Yes, as Manny the accompanist, he entered just moments before the magnificent Carmen Roman appeared as diva Maria Callas in last season’s Master Class (Carmen / Maria spoke first!) Other Players credits include directing Always…Patsy Cline, Crazy For You, and Radio Gals.  Musical directing Guys and Dolls and appearing as Howard in Moon Over Buffalo.  Shawn lives in Chicago where he is an associate conductor for another monster hit, Wicked.  Across the country he has directed, Sweeny Todd and Oil City Symphony.  He has conducted the national tours of Cats, Crazy For You, and The World Goes ‘Round’.  He played the world premieres of Sondheim’s Bounce and Kauder’s and Ebb’s The Visit and danced in red, sparkly, cowboy boot-tap shoes more than 1000 times as L.M. in Pump Boys and Dinettes.  Thanks Todd and Greg for another chance to make art in the woods!
